One woman’s remarkable childhood is put on entertaining display when the Australian tour of I Don’t Wanna Play House makes its way to the Araluen Arts Centre on Thursday, 29 July 2010.

Produced by the Yirra Yaakin Aboriginal Corporation, I Don’t Wanna Play House is an enthralling one-woman show in which Tammy Anderson relives her intriguing childhood with reflective family yarns and hilarious impersonations of family members.

Written, created and performed by Tammy Anderson, Araluen Arts Centre Director Tim Rollason said that Ms Anderson has been sharing her compelling story for eight years.

“Tammy Anderson has performed I Don’t Wanna Play House across the globe and we are extremely fortunate that the Australian tour brings it to Alice Springs,” Mr Rollason said.

“Based on Ms Anderson’s unique childhood growing up in Tasmania and Victoria, I Don’t Wanna Play House is both a humorous and heartbreaking reflection of her life.”

Mr Rollason said that this year Araluen Arts Centre will host several nationally touring productions in 2010, with major events coming up including Circus Oz and the Bell Shakespeare Company, who will present Twelfth Night later this year.

“I’m certain that Alice Springs audiences will love the opportunity to experience a performance that has been described as compelling, optimistic and intriguing,” Mr Rollason said.

I Don’t Wanna Play House is on at Araluen Arts Centre at 8pm on Thursday, 29 July 2010.

Tickets are $35 for adults, $30 for concession and Araluen members or $25 for students. Tickets can be purchased on the day, or pre-purchased by phoning 8951 1122.
