Events : A Circus Affair at Araluen Theatre

A whimsical tale of romance and circus will light up the stage when Circosis, featuring local Alice Springs duo Sarah Mason and Andrew Cook, perform with two shows at the Araluen Theatre 1.30pm and 7.30pm this Saturday, 5 June 2010.
Araluen Arts Centre Director Tim Rollason said Circosis have delighted audiences from the Amazon to remote communities across Australia with their wit, skill, spice and old world charm.
“Sarah Mason and Andrew (Cooky) Cook perform a quirky semi-autobiography of Sarita and Mr Kiko and their love affair with circus, and perhaps each other,” Mr Rollason said.
“After training in New Zealand and achieving a Diploma in Circus Arts the pair has now returned to their home town of Alice Springs to present their first feature length stage show, A Circus Affair.
“We are delighted to welcome these wonderful performers to the Araluen Theatre and are sure that the local audience will love the characters Sarita and Mr Kiko.
“It’s great to be able to support local talent such as Circosis, to develop a professional product in Alice Springs for its performance in a professional theatre environment, and to engage and entertain local audiences.”
Mr Rollason said 2010 has already been a great year for events in the Araluen Theatre, with plenty more performances still to come from national touring circuits including Bell Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, Yirra Yaakin Theatre Production’s I don’t wanna play house, and Brink Production’s When The Rain Stops Falling just to name a few.
“A Circus Affair is very special because it’s a local show, which should be full of surprises and show people what Circosis have learnt over the last 12 months, through their study and their creative practice,” Mr Rollason said.
“Here we have a local product, which will be shown here in Alice Springs first, and could then travel to other theatres around Australia if Circosis decide to tour nationally. I have no doubt these talented local performers are bound for international success.”
Tickets to A Circus Affair at Araluen Theatre can be purchased on the day, or pre-purchased by phoning 8951 1122.”
