The biggest ever NT made film festival starts Thursday so there is plenty to do on the weekend and its all free. 

    * Spicing up the Shorts or how to write a script in ten days with Mary Anne Butler.
    * Goolarri Television Broome is calling for short films.

The Minister for the Arts Gerry McCarthy MLA is launching Festival

7.30pm Thursday 3 June in Civic Park come along a little early and hang out at the FISTIVAL Club and mingle in the screen scene and watch the MUSIC CLIP entries on the big screen. 

4.30pm - 7.30pm Thursday and Friday  The NT SCREEN SCENE

Come along and NETWORK, it’s all very informal and designed for you to socialise, meet people and promote your business or what you do, or see what people in the screen business do, on 2 afternoons after work. Set in the Browns Mart courtyard with a bar and food available and a soloist for entertainment.

Stay for the screen program starting at 7.30pm in Civic Park.

Followed by Movie & TV themes Karaoke at the FISTIVAL Club

These guys pitching their films all have a variety of experience in filmmaking and they all have films screening during Fist Full. They seriously want to get their next films made but can’t do it without help from actors, crew, script writers, production assistants , camerafolk, soundies, artists, wardrobe, makeup - all those talents that go toward making a great film.

So come along and hear the pitches and see if you want to get involved and get some experience working on a film.

Road Trip / Jenny Frazer / short feature / road movie / kidnap / drama.

This is a personal story of an extended camping trip that explores ideas of movement, family, place and the mindset of the 70's.

Dust Devils / Mike Holligan / Feature Project - 90 minutes / Action Drama.

A struggling Australian truck driver is drawn into a violent cycle of revenge in the harsh outback after his wife is murdered by a British gangster.

Darwin Crashdown / Chris Malseed / short feature - 30 mins / Action Comedy.

Undercover intelligence operative seeks to entrap global crime ring, gets unexpected help from a Darwin 'local'.

Wanna Go There / band Sex in the Desert / 8 min Music Clip & Documentary.

The rock group 'Sex in the Desert' encounter aliens in central Australia, who appreciate their song then cart them off in their UFO. Doco follows making of clip and road trip.

Black Girl, White Girl / Lillian Barter / 90mins feature film / Drama.

Topics: Themes that unite and divide Australians - childhood innocence and bonding, contemporary adolescent issues, divisive social forces, in particular racism. A story of an unbreakable connection between childhood friends despite the racial protocols that seemingly divide them.

An insight into the life and career of the Territory’s champion boxer John Siriotis and the controversy surrounding the Australasian title he held for just 90 seconds.  

Balibo    Ego Lemos / Skinnyfish Music / Director-Naina Sen                    

East Timorese singer-songwriter Ego Lemos saw rushes of the film "Balibo" on the directors mobile phone. Later that night he woke and wrote the title track to the film.

Regulating Sex    Seranna Shutt / Sienna Productions / Director - Dixi Joy Bankier         

Four women in the sex industry reveal what it is like to work in Darwin, and the incongruous "Prostitution Regulation Act" they have to work within.

Solid Place to Stand  Lillian Barter / Chris Malseed

The life of a Darwin teenager comes to a turning point when festering guilt, a trouble past and a self abusing lifestyle comes to a head. The problems are confronted and dealt with, the demons are despatched, and she finds a solid place to stand.

Soul Sisters    Chris Malseed

A disaffected party girl leaves home to live with her white 'soul sister'. Two concerned clan ladies take her to a sacred site and with deft firmness and compassion explain some of the history and 'womens business' culture pertaining to the site. Pennies start to drop, the relationship with her 'soul sister' remains solid but tempered by growing self-awareness and maturity.

Goolarri Television - Broome is calling for short films.  This is a platform for filmmakers to keep your short films alive and seen by a broad and diverse audience. Goolarri Television (GTV35), based in Broome, play a substantial and eclectic mix of short films, from drama and comedy to animations.

Goolarri Television is an Aboriginal owned and operated television station broadcasting to the township of Broome in Western Australia who broadcast mainly non-commercial and non-mainstream content, and are currently showing a great collection of material from various festivals, schools and works from independent producers Australia wide.
